If you’re a fan of the Eagles and you find yourself in Winslow, Arizona, you will want to stop by Standin’ on the Corner Park, a site that has become a popular photo op destination. You can even catch the Standin’ on the Corner Festival if you’re in the area during late September. Take a look ahead to see why you might want to stop by Standin’ on the Corner Park next time you’re in Arizona.
From Lyric to Life
The song “Take It Easy” by the Eagles makes references to Winslow, Arizona in its lyrics, and the town has embraced this reference by reciprocating the favor. Though it has been around for generations, the song is still influencing people to stop by and see Winslow’s Standin’ on the Corner Park site, which was finished just before the turn of the century. This photo op destination offers a statue of a man with a guitar and several other references to the Eagles’ song as well as a large, in-depth mural that displays its lyrics. While the verbatim lyrics are “Standin’ on a corner park”, the site is called Standin’ on the Corner Park; this difference may have been a mistake, or it may have been for the purpose of differentiating the site from other corners.
Standin’ on the Corner Festival
To go along with the Standin’ on the Corner site, Winslow also hosts a Standin’ on the Corner Festival. This gathering happens at the end of September every year and invites Eagles tribute bands and other country rock acts to come and perform in town.
