The Monument
The Solar Veterans Memorial is made up of five marble pillars. Each of these pillars is slightly taller than the one in front of it, and they are arranged similarly to a staircase. Additionally, each marble slab features a large hole. Although the monument was only designed in 2014, it has become a popular attraction for tourists who pass through the area.
November 11th
The most interesting and unique aspect of the Solar Veterans Memorial can only be witnessed if you show up at the right time. At 11:11 am on November 11th, a ray of sunlight will shine through each of the five holes in the marble slabs. As it passes through the holes, it lands on the Great Seal of the United States. This is particularly significant because it was at this time in 1918 that the First World War came to its official end.
