The Bird Cages
The Bird Cage Theatre Museum gets its name from the “bird cages” that would draw many customers in. The establishment itself was a bar and casino, but there were private rooms where prostitutes did their business. All of the décor that adorned these bird cages is original, from the 1800s. At that time prostitutes could work at the Theatre for $25 per night.
Notable Exhibits
There are many other attractions to experience aside from the namesake cages. The first vehicle that used curved glass, the Black Moriah, was a horse-drawn hearse that remains in the Bird Cage Theatre Museum. Tourists can also take a look at the stiletto used by one prostitute to murder another by cutting her heart out.
